In March 2020, Todor and I met at the Short Movie Club Film Festival in Minsk, Belarus. As the festival team was really extraordinarily kind in taking care of our well-being for five days, the rigged election and the courageous protests of Belarusians in the same year touched us very deeply. Especially since our short films were shown at the cultural centre in Minsk, where Maria Kalesnikava was the managing director. This is how this work „again and again“ came into being in September 2020. We want it to be understood as a support for the Belarusians. That is why it has been freely available on the internet on Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook or Instagram since September 2020. Only one year later, in September 2021, when the Lukashenko regime passed more brutal court sentences, e.g. against Maria Kalesnikava, we decided to submit this ultra short film to festivals. Thus, we consider this short film to be a 2021 production. Some festivals may be bothered by the completely free access to the short film. However, we cannot take this into consideration. We are very happy when it is shown at festivals to show that Belarus is not forgotten. Previous awards for this short film have all been dedicated to the brave Belarusians whose courageous commitment inspired us to make this film in the first place.
Now, two years later in March 2022, Todor and me are shocked about the aggression from Putins Russia against Ukraine. As helpless as before in Belarus we decided to make a adaptation from the Belarus-Short to an Ukraine- Short. As the aggressor, the main character behind the scene is still the same, Mr. Putin, we saved the title almost completely to „again and again….“ We want it to be understood as a support for the Ukrainians. That is why it has been freely available on the internet on Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook or Instagram since March 2022 Some festivals may be bothered by the completely free access to the short film. However, we cannot take this into consideration.
